Arts Award Programme
“Arts Award takes children and young people on a creative journey, exploring the arts world, discovering their potential as artists, developing leadership skills – and gaining a recognised qualification along the way. Open to anyone aged 25 or under, this unique set of arts qualifications builds skills essential for success in the 21st century: Creativity and communication, along with problem-solving, reflective-thinking and confidence.” https://www.artsaward.org.uk/
Mess Up The Mess staff have trained to become Arts Award Advisors in Discover and Explore and Bronze and Silver and become an Arts Awards Centre.
Over the last year young people have completed Explore during weekly drama sessions and Bronze through Peer Led Education Training Residential (PLVT).
During weekly drama sessions young people gained new skills in improvisation, comedy and physical theatre, learnt about professional artists that they have worked with and delved deeper into the world of Mess Up The Mess as an arts organisation.
During PLVT young people, learnt new skills in Youth Arts Facilitation, shared a arts skill with each other and had the opportunity to watch and review a live performance “I Need and Hero” by Frankie Williams and ask the writer and performer questions about their process and creative journey.
