The Community Tech Volunteering Project (CVT) will up-skill and empower young people who may be excluded, isolated and disengaged, including those that are NEET (not in education, employment and training) through training, volunteering and community activity and opportunities.

Jay will Co-ordinate the project and work in partnership with Youth, Community, Voluntary, Educational and Training organisations to ensure young people who would most benefit from getting involved are reached. The project will look to maximise young people’s opportunities to gain accreditation and give recognition for their positive contribution and engagement with MUTM through existing and new accreditation avenues including Agored and Millennium Volunteers.

Building on MUTM’s experience of delivering its successful Teching It Live programme, the project will recruit volunteers to take part in technical theatre training. Young People will be trained in 3 aspects of technical theatre including sound and lighting design and operation and stage management. In addition to the specific technical skills learned, they will gain key transferable skills including teamwork, leadership and communication and experience increased confidence, self-esteem and improved aspirations.
