Community Tech Volunteering

The Community Tech Volunteering Project (CTV) will up-skill and empower young people who may be excluded, isolated and disengaged, including those that are NEET (not in education, employment, and training) or have higher support needs, through training, volunteering and community activity and opportunities.

Young People will be trained in 2 aspects of technical theatre; sound and lighting design and operation. In addition to the specific technical skills learned, they will gain key transferable skills including teamwork, leadership, and communication as well as experience increased confidence, self-esteem and improved aspirations.

Volunteers will be also be trained and supported to gain a Level 2 Agored qualification in Volunteering and Community Engagement.

Newly trained volunteers will then work with community groups and organisations to volunteer on events.  Sharing their ideas and technical skills to enhance events and become integrated within the community.

These volunteers will fulfill the following roles:

  • Technically trained Lighting support assistants
  • Technically trained sound support assistants
