Here are the following volunteering positions we have available here at Mess Up The Mess 

Drama and Project Assistant Volunteer 

Aim of volunteering role: assist with delivery of drama sessions and projects, shadow professional staff and freelancers and be supported to take on roles within the project.

The objective of the volunteering role is to: to support the delivery of drama sessions, projects and events 

Tasks:

  • Assist with planning of sessions 
  • Assist with delivery of sessions 
  • Attend Volunteering and Community Engagement training sessions 
  • Attend team meetings 
  • Record keeping and monitoring of participants and sessions 

Marketing and Communications Project Assistant Volunteer 

Aim of volunteering role: assist with marketing of various Mess Up The Mess and community projects and events.

The objective of the volunteering role is to: to assist with the marketing materials for projects and events 

Tasks:

  • Assist with planning and Marketing of Events  
  • Attend Events
  • Attend Volunteering and Community Engagement training sessions 
  • Attend team meetings 
  • Photograph and Video events and sessions 
  • Update website 
  • Liaise with press
  • Liaise with Graphic designers over marketing materials 

Technically trained lighting support assistants

Aim of volunteering role: To work with a local community group or organisation providing technical lighting support to enhance a community event.  

The objective of the volunteering role is to: play an active role in developing the community event and offer lighting tech support and equipment. 

Tasks:

  • Attend 1 day training in Technical Lighting
  • Attend Volunteering and Community Engagement training sessions 
  • Attend events and operate lighting equipment 

Technically trained sound support assistants

Aim of volunteering role: To work with a local community group or organisation providing technical sound support to enhance a community event.  

The objective of the volunteering role is to: play an active role in developing the community event and offer sound tech support and equipment. 

Tasks:

  • Attend 1 day training in Technical Sound
  • Attend Volunteering and Community Engagement training sessions 
  • Attend events and operate sound equipment

Peer Leader Volunteer (Training during summer holidays)

Aim of volunteering role: To work with Mess Up The Mess Theatre Company as an active role model for younger members of the company.

The objective of the volunteering role is to: to support and peer lead during workshops and events

Tasks:

  • Attend Training residential
  • Organise, assist or run workshops and youth events with/for their peers.
  • Support and assist Mess Up The Mess Staff in running workshops to young people
  • Attend fortnightly meetings with the Youth Arts Worker to discuss and plan future events.

All volunteering opportunities will be based at MUTM Office base 46 College Street, Ammanford, SA18 3AF however training and event organisation may take place in various different communities around South Wales.

Transport:

Transport costs will be provided and support with transport will be offered when possible. 

Expenses for food covered if volunteering for 4hrs or more.

 Skills required:

1.       Interest in theatre 

2.       A willingness to learn and embrace all opportunities 

3.       Good communication skills (which will be developed throughout the project)

4.       Ability to work as a team 

5.       Be flexible throughout the duration of the project
