We are delighted to share the news that we have been awarded Volunteering Wales Main Grants funding for our Improving and Enhancing the Volunteer Experience for Young People Project, this project is funded by Welsh Government’s Volunteering Wales Main Grants Scheme, administered by WCVA.
This project will provide high quality attractive volunteering opportunities and training for young people in Ammanford and the Amman Valley. It will engage, train and support young people aged 11 to 25 to volunteer with Mess Up The Mess on regular MUTM sessions and at creative projects. There are 2 main strands through which young people may volunteer:
- Community Technical Volunteers (11 – 25) will be trained by experienced industry professionals to operate technical equipment (including sound, theatre lighting and video equipment) and volunteer on MUTM and other events in the community

- Peer Leader Volunteers (16+) will be trained by experienced MUTM facilitators in how to plan and deliver workshops and peer led projects. They will volunteer with MUTM and other local groups, take part in MUTM youth steering groups and working groups helping to design new projects and programmes of work.

Mess Up The Mess has recently been accredited as an Arts Award Centre. Through their training and volunteering experience, young volunteers will now achieve Explore and Bronze level Arts Awards. Mess Up The Mess will also recognise the achievements of young volunteers at an annual youth led celebration event (devised, planned and delivered by volunteers themselves), showcasing their achievements to families, friends and the wider community.
If you are a young person and interested in any of the volunteering opportunities, please get in touch with Jay Smith (Volunteer Engagement Coordinator) jay@messupthemess.co.uk.
