Strike 25 empowered and up skilled over 50 local young people to work alongside professional artists and the wider community to research, write, devise, perform and tour an original theatrical production commemorating the Miners Strike of 1984 from the perspective of local women.
An evocative and challenging production was created to commemorate a quarter of a century since the 1984 Miners strike. From distributing food parcels to those most in need, to picketing and marching, women were in the thick of the action standing up for their values and community. This unique production based on interviews, led by the young people with local women, provided a snapshot of a time that has defined modern Britain.
